Here’s a tip for moving elements within your Revit model, and which I believe is continually over looked by Revit users. It’s a Tip/Trick aimed at new-comers to Revit, but more experienced users may find it useful. Welcome to the Revit Architecture – Tips and Tricks – Nudge Tool.
It’s the NUDGE TOOL. Not a tab, or drop down selection, but simply the “arrow” keys on your keyboard.
This is a simple and quick method of moving elements such as walls, windows, doors and components, straight from the keyboard.
Highlight the element within your model and press the respective direction arrow on your keyboard
The increments of the nudge move, depends on how far in or out you have zoomed the view. The CLOSER you zoom into the model, the SMALLER the nudge increment becomes.
If you don’t zoom any further, then the increments will remain uniform for each nudge.
Without further zooming in or out, if you use the SHIFT key whilst using the arrow keys then the increments of the nudge is X10. e.g. if only using arrow keys and the increment move is 5 units; then by using SHIFT + arrow keys the increment will be 50 units.
Although this method of moving an element is not as accurate as using the move tool, or indeed by dimensioning, but it still has its place in modelling.
I hope this short tip or trick is useful for fellow Revit users. Check out other posts in our Tips and Tricks category by visiting the LATEST NEWS PAGE
