Revit Architecture – Tips and Tricks – Arc Aligned Text

An interesting query arose lately where a question was asked if an Arc Aligned Text could be placed in Revit Architecture. Unfortunately it cannot be done in the true capacity (as can be done in Autocad). Welcome to the Revit Architecture – Tips and Tricks – Arc Aligned Text

However the following work around may help to give an impression that text is associated to an arc component.

  • In the following snapshot one can see a wall with an arc feature.
  • Place an “Arc length dimension” on the arc between two reference points. In this¬†scenario they are the wall joints.

Radius text

  • Select the dimension text
  • This opens the Dimension Text dialog box
  • Tick the “Replace With Text” radial button
  • In this text box place the required text to be shown
  • Right click in the “Above” text box

  • From this list choose “Insert Unicode control character
  • Then click on ” Unit Seperator (Segment separaotr)
  • Click apply
  • Click OK
  • This action will add the text to the dimension line above or below as required. It will also hide the numerical value of the dimension as shown below.

Although we are not arc aligning the text to the arc, but by placing an arc length dimension line with text above, it gives the impression that the text is aligned to the arc in the model.
